Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Breast Cancer Awareness Month

October is Breast Cancer awareness month. At Active we’re proud to work within a multidisciplinary team at the Mater Private Hospital, to provide holistic care for those undergoing treatment after a breast cancer diagnosis. With our unique ‘Connected Care’ approach, our physios expertly support patients throughout all stages of treatment and recovery. They see patients in hospital, in our clinics and during our online video consultations. We’re also delighted to be able to facilitate a series of breast cancer exercise classes. Phoebe Giffard, one of our physiotherapists who works closely with breast cancer patients, features in this video, which speaks about the journey faced by patients diagnosed with Breast Cancer.

As well as exercise classes, Active’s advanced trained Women’s Health team provide one-on-one appointments to patients undergoing breast cancer treatment. We review scar tissue, shoulder range of motion, any aches or pains and prescribe a personalised exercise program to improve surgical and treatment outcomes. We also treat any cording symptoms that may present after surgery or treatment.
